Rose wrote: As an ex-Kriegie from Stalag Luft IV, it is a great honor and a privilege to contribute my thoughts to this website.Having been shot down August 29, 1944, and being captured by the Croatians, turned over to the Germans, and spending three weeks in the old prison in Budapest, Hungary, and then a two-week train ride to Luft IV, I arrived in the camp around October 6, 1944. I was a short-timer compared to some that were there.
Since 1975, when I had 35 names and addresses of Luft IV POWs, to today, when I need approximately 800 names to have the total 10,000 listed as Luft IV, it has been through your effectiveness that we have reached this plateau.
