NoBall-Lottingham mission #43, 29 February 1944

Order # 221

This target was hastily requested after the Group had been briefed and finally scrubbed for a mission to Stuttgart. Target weather was poor and a light snow was also falling at Wendling. Shortly after this mission was cancelled, the crews were hurriedly called to briefing and at 1120 hours (25) aircraft began take-offs.

There were no fighters encountered and very little flak resulting in the Group suffering no losses, damage or casualties. Bombing was done on PFF flares with a total of (300) 500 N GP weapons impacting and results unobserved due to l0/l0ths overcast. Aircraft returned safely around 1600 hours.

This mission information was taken from "The Liberators from Wendling, the history of the 392nd Bomb Group", by Robert E. Vickers Jr. available through the 392nd BG Memorial Association.
